Terms of Service — Wildcatter (DRAFT)

DRAFT for legal review (#1003). Not yet published, not legal advice.

1. Agreement

By installing or playing Wildcatter (the "Game"), you agree to these terms with Q.P. Enterprises LLC ("we"). If you bought the Game on Steam, the Steam Subscriber Agreement also applies; purchases and refunds are handled by Valve under Steam's refund policy.

The Game is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the Game only with consent from a parent or legal guardian.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to play the Game for non-commercial entertainment. You may not redistribute, sell, or sublicense the Game or its assets. Streaming, videos, reviews, and screenshots of the Game are welcome, including monetized ones.

3. Pre-release software

The Game may ship as a demo, beta, or Early Access build. Pre-release builds change: features, balance, and save compatibility may break between versions. We do not promise specific future content.

4. Mods and user content

The Game supports user-created content via its documented mod manifest. You keep ownership of your mods; you grant us a non-exclusive license to load and run them as the Game's mod loader requires. Don't ship mods containing content you have no rights to, malware, or content unlawful where you distribute it. Mods are not our products; we don't review or warrant them, and we may disable mod loading where it breaks the Game.

If you upload, submit, or share mods through any official Wildcatter, Oddrift, Steam Workshop, cloud, or hosted sharing feature, you grant us and our platform and hosting providers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, distribute, display, perform, reformat, and modify the mod as needed to operate, promote, moderate, and support that feature and keep the mod compatible with the Game. You must have the rights needed to submit the mod and grant that license. We may remove, hide, decline to feature, or stop supporting hosted mods for any reason, including legal, safety, compatibility, quality, or community reasons.

5. A work of fiction

The Game is a simulation that uses public geological and market data as background and simulation inputs. Company names, characters, executives, campaign events, outcomes, and decisions are fictional or fictionalized; any resemblance to real companies or persons is coincidental. Nothing in the Game is financial, investment, or engineering advice.

6. Optional online and shared features

The Game may include optional online or shared features, such as daily challenges, leaderboards, shared runs, cloud features, mod sharing, or similar services. We do not promise that any such feature will ship, remain available, remain compatible, or preserve submitted content or results.

If shared features are available, don't submit falsified results, interfere with the service, exploit submission channels, harass other players, or upload unlawful, infringing, harmful, or abusive content. We may remove, hide, decline, reset, restrict, suspend, or discontinue shared features, submissions, accounts, access, or results for any reason, including legal, safety, security, cheating, compatibility, quality, operational, or community reasons.

7. Ownership

The Game — code, art, names, and data compilations — is owned by Q.P. Enterprises LLC or its licensors. Third-party components ship under their own licenses, listed in the Game's NOTICE/credits.

8. Warranty and liability

The Game is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Game; we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

9. Termination

The license ends if you materially breach these terms. Sections 5–8 survive termination.

10. Changes, law, contact

We may update these terms as the Game changes. Material changes will be noted in release notes or another reasonable notice, and where required we will ask for affirmative acceptance. Governing law and venue: State of New York; courts of competent jurisdiction in New York State. Questions: hello@oddrift.com. Effective: June 18, 2026.
